What a fantastic weekend I had! My last music festival was Big Day Out 2010 when Muse was headlining, but I
finally went to another one this year! Made it all the way to Bendigo for Groovin' the Moo 2013, the line-up was NOT a let down! The line-up consisted of many Australian indie bands with some international soft-rock bands and lots of hiphop artists! My uni friends and I decided to drive down and stay a friends house in Bendigo for the weekend (2 hours drive from Melbourne) before going to the showgrounds.
Here's a cool dutch braid I did for my friend starting on the left all the way to the right across the front of her head and then I popped the flower headband just behind it! She got so many compliments for it! So proud :')
Started the day with the
Last Dinosaurs, OMG I've got so much love for this band! Amazing band from Brisbane, their main singer is an asian with curly hair - my fav! LOL They were such a good start to the day :)
I have this picture of
Matt and Kim just to appreciate how amazing my 30x optical zoom camera is. I literally bought it on the Friday before the concert, and it has proved to be a real beaut! Except that I played with it too much on Friday, my cam died halfway through the Saturday LOL. Still, I really do appreciate the optical zoom on the Canon Powershot SX500 IS. I got a video of Kim crowd-walking over the top of everything, she fell a few times but I'm girl-crushing on that rocker-chick drummer!

Alpine; This band was a new find for me, so rocking! and the two lead singer chicks were so hip!
Pez was the last one before my cam died on me, whew! LOL Still so happy I got some awesome shots that day! :)
TAME IMPALA! AH MY GAWD! THEY WERE SO GOOD LIVE! I took the rest of these photos on my phone, please excuse the crap quality or not being able to see the band clearly, they were more for sentimental value.
Tegan and Sara, enough said really! They are just beautiful and AMAZING live!
Other bands I also saw but seemed to miss photos of include
Flume (SO MUCH LOVE FOR FLUME),
The Kooks (WHAT A BEAUTIFUL ACCENT WHEN HE SPOKE),
Orlanda be Cool, Shockone, Example and
Hungry Kids of Hungary. However I saw Hungry Kids of Hungary at their side show at The Corner Hotel a week before GTM - it was actually the
BEST gig I have ever been to!
Now you may remember when I mentioned I saw Hungry Kids of Hungary on my birthday at the Espy, well it turned out it was
THEM SWOOPS who were warming up for Hungry Kids of Hungary LOL my bad. Anyway I am completely invested in this band because I think they're going to be found pretty soon, they sound similar to the Last Dinosaurs but of course different at the same time. They are a Melbourne band, only formed last year and already have an album soon to be released! Hopefully will be seeing these guys at their EP release in June!
The Preatures, what talent! They were the other warm-up band for Hungry Kids of Hungary. I apologize for not having all the band members, I was right up the front of the stage I couldn't fit everyone in! The guy up the front, Gideon, he rocked it so hard and started stripping half way through the show LOL it was fantastic!!
The first time I saw this band was at the St Kilda Open Cinema and the band exited via the crowd. My friend was so starstruck all she could muster out to say was 'good job' to the band LOL These guys are so entertaining to watch live and as an encore they got all the other bands to come up on the stage and sing 'Let You Down' - so much fun! My fav is Ben the bass player, he took his shoes off during the show and was subtly rocking back and forth in the back to the music - what a cutie!
On another note, I also ended up seeing
the xx at Festival Hall in April! I LOVE OLIVER! WHAT A BABE and Romy is just beautiful! I got tickets for my friends 21st and I know she really enjoyed herself :)
As the xx did two shows in Melbourne, I went to the Friday night show which was the second one because their first one sold out in pre-sales! Impressive, I know! We rocked up early thinking it was going to be really busy but we were terribly wrong and ended up getting spots right at the very front of the stage! YAY!
This was my favourite picutre of the band that night, they were just AMAZING live!
2013 has been SUCH an amazing year for live music and I'm sure there will be more to come! I haven't even mentioned my OOTD's yet! Stay tuned for more ;)
