The weather in Melbourne is rather depressing today and I am currently procrastinating from my essay with this post ahaha so I thought I'd reflect on my trip up to Perth over the summer holidays.
Unexpected trips are the best trips!
I ended up going to Perth for a week right before the end of summer holidays for my sisters graduation with the rest of fam! This was my second time up in Perth, and it just made me appreciate what a great and beautiful country Australia really is.

What I love about Australia is that the country is so big if you go from one side of the country to the other, the time changes LOL there was a 4 hour time difference between Melbourne and Perth so I ended up gaining 4 hours! My sister lives in this suburban town an hour from the city called Mandurah (pronounces Man-dra, not Man-du-rah), right next to the pier and beaches. We ate some quality grub while we were in Perth, seafood was just perf! Thus I have a lot of food posts, please bare with me ahah

A really big thing in Mandurah is to go night crabbing, you don't need a license to do it but there are some self-regulations when you catch a crab such as measuring the crab for size and seeing if they have any crab-babies on them. We decided to go crabbing on the first night, dad was too keen and I was too tired but we ended up getting two of them!

My sister and I ended up going to the Trop Fest: World's Biggest Short-Film Festival which started off as a simple idea by a guy in Aus and then just expanded like crazy. There were thousands of entries from local and international, the finalists were picked and screened nationally before the winner announced in Sydney. Because of the time difference, Perth's screenings were a little bit later - nonetheless, its always so interesting watching these short films. The finalists screenings are always held in an outdoor cinema and the entry is always by donation, if you get a chance to go to one seriously its worth it! Ended up exploring in Fremantle before the screening, which is sort of like where all the hipster live LOL

So Tuesday was the main event, my sister's graduation! Because she attended Murdoch University, she got to wear these incredibly attractive* maroon coloured robes ahah. As they go by faculty during the ceremony, Tuesday night was Education, Science and Engineering. There was an outdoor setting with about 3000 chairs and the ceremony featured fireworks and inflatable balls at the end! I don't think my graduation will be nearly as fancy, Murdoch graduation really did out-do itself! Not to mention we each also received free food and drinks!
