Live While We're Young

How has your week been? Done your Christmas shopping yet??
Me? I had the bestest week away with my high school friends on a road trip to Torquay (2 hours away from Melbourne CBD). We spent 4 days, 3 nights at a friend of a friend's AMAZING beach house which was about 5 minutes walk to the beach! Torquay was good to us, having the most incredible weather for all four days!

Day One: Monday, 21°

Started with me picking everyone up and convincing my friend's parents in two different languages to let my friend go on this roadtrip (which actually took two hours), luckily it worked ahahaha
Unfortunately for my friends who had to listen to my iPod in the car, much of it involved the new One Direction album...LOL I have no shame in admitting I am a 1D fan (dude, good looking English boys in a boy band  = ♥). Anyway, by the end of the trip I had successfully converted everyone and they were singing along in the car too hehe.
When we arrived at Torquay after doing all the shopping, we decided to go for a joyride around the neighbourhood and holy mother, the houses down there are SO INCREDIBLE! We also saw SO MANY wild rabbits roaming around! Here are some instagram pics of that joyride :
Left: disco ball on a nicely decorated tree at the Torquay shops; Left Centre: I found Barbie's Dream House!; Right Centre: random wild bunnies around!!; Right: incredible 3-storey houses near a random lake in Torquay
By the time we got there, did all the shopping, bought fish and chips for dinner; it was already pretty late, so we ended up watching the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2012 and created a drinking game

Rules of VS Fashion Show Drinking Game:
1. Drink when you hear Miranda Kerr's Australian accent (Miranda Kerr makes us proud to be Australian)
2. Drink when the model interacts with the singer/band/performer
3.Drink when there is a wardrobe malfunction
4. Drink when the outfit is actually fugly (debatable, but its funny debating when you're drunk)
5. Drink when the model looks awfully uncomfortable (including her walk)
6. Drink when you feel sorry for yourself at any point of the show

Our beach house also had a "pond"

Day Two: Tuesday, 27°

Even though there were four bedrooms with queen size beds in the house, we all decided to bunk in the one room with a queen bed and a single bunk above (I got the top bunk!). Woke up at a strangely normal time, we made pancakes before walking down the beach. The beach we went to wasn't the main beach at Torquay, but it was empty and quite lovely!

Food posts:

Day Three: Wednesday, 31°

We decided to drive down to the Surf Coast Beach in Torquay, which was a 10 minute drive from the beach house and it was there we found ALL the people lol. There were so many schoolies kids around, we felt kind of old ahaha. Nonetheless, the beach was SO incredible on such a hot day! The water was like being in a wave pool, great for all those first-timers at surfing! I finally managed to get my tan on for the first time all summer, and actually I burnt my sculpt...lol. it hurt.

Day Four: Thursday, 34°

We managed to pull an all nighter on the last night and decided to see the sun rise in the morning at about 5am before having 3 hours of sleep, packing up and heading home. So now, I can cross see the sun rise off my bucket list! It was so great to get away with these girls for awhile, defs something we should do more often! ;)

Anyway Christmas is around the corner, which means more shifts for me at Village! I'm working 5 days in a row (which has NEVER happened before) and I'm working Christmas Eve and Boxing Day the week after (YAY Double Pay)!! Hope the Christmas shopping isn't TOO bad for you! If you're stuck on ideas, try a Village Cinema Gift Card ;)

Mint is the colour of the day!

Haven't blogged in awhile, but the good news is the weather is looking up in Melbourne! (for today...)
Here's my lovely Wednesday wondering around Melbourne with my uni friends
There was this awesome flower shop just inside Myer that had these amazing decorations with hanging baubles and little bird cages with live plants. Definitely getting ideas for when I move out!
Royal Arcade and thelunch at Fathers Office
Christmas is actually the best time of the year, I love Christmas decorations! Royal Arcade, down Bourke Street was rather scenic and really put you in a Christmas-y mood. The second picture was where we had lunch, at Father's Office which was a really old-school American style bar with barrels for tables and really amazing wallpaper. They also have all you can eat buffalo wings on Wednesday nights after 5pm! I think I'll be back for them one day!
Sinead and Issy at the Laurent Boulangerie Patisserie
So after walking into a few too many shoe shops and having no luck with my shoe size, we went to Laurent Boulangerie Patisserie for coffee. This Patisserie is a really French cafe with a really lovely range of cakes and pastry. We ordered Iced Chocolate and also Chocolate Mousse, it was a nice place to finish off our shopping trip :)

Hope you're having a really great Summer or Winter.... :)

Hurts Like Heaven

Isn't Chris Martin just beautiful?
ohmyGawwwwwwwwwwrdddddddddd! I can not express how much more I appreciate Coldplay now that I've seen them live! So anyway Coldplay came to Melbourne for their Mylo Zyloto tour on Tuesday night and they played in the biggest stadium Melbourne has to offer, Etihad (well. besides MGC). The night was MAGICAL! I won't spoil it too much for you incase you're planning to see them soon, but a tip would be don't look up for too long.... LOL. Pretty much when we bought tickets to the Coldplay concert in May I was set on making DIY shirts for it. So here's my galaxy print Coldplay shirt! :)
  Materials:
Plain Black singlets (Kmart, $4)
White acrylic paint
Galaxy coloured acrylic paint (I bought Teal, Purple and Blue)
Sponges
Peel and Stick sheets
Marker Pen
Stanley Knife
Scissors
Here's my COLDPLAY design I cut out of the Peel and Stick sheets, before putting it in place on the shirt. TIP: make sure the shirt is on a flat surface with no creases before you peel and stick!!
Using the white acrylic paint I went over the design with a sponge. This is really important if you want your colours to been seen. TIP: put a sheet of paper or plastic in between the shirt so the paint doesn't seep through to the back.
Using different sponges, alternate between the colours to achieve a well-blended galaxy design. TIP: Start with darker colours first, lighter colours are much easier to blend into darker ones.
After finishing my print, I completely improvised and put some white flecks on the shirts. I've seen some blogs do this with toothbrushes ahah

Then I let it dry in the sun and peel! Voila!
I made these in an hour before I was suppose to leave for the concert....but I think they turned out pretty good :D now I shall leave you with this picture of fireworks that may or may not have been from the concert ;P

This is Halloween!

Opps its a bit past Halloween... But for Halloween we actually decided to celebrate this year (I think it was just an excuse to go out since we don't actually celebrate Halloween in Australia, but still a good one)!! I think it was more fun dressing up and taking photos than the actual Halloween event we went to ahah.
Introducing the Girls of Gotham City Sirens
Poison Ivy, Catwomen and Harley Quinn @ Alumbra Nightclub
Our inspiration photo above! We had a Bat Girl, however unfortunately she had to pull out last minute, so it ended up just being the three!
Me as Catwomen, Chloe as Harley Quinn, Michelle and Poison Ivy
There isn't too much you can do with a Catwomen costume other than buy a leather onesuit, however Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy both made their costumes with obviously a lot of time and effort! They looked smashing and received a lot of compliments when we were roaming around Melbourne at night! OH also check out Chloe's blog post for more Halloween fun!

Hope you had a Happy Halloween and your house didn't get egg-ed! Check out Jimmy Kimmel's Halloween Challenge "I Told My Kids I Ate Their Halloween Candy Again" 2012! Its pretty cute! ;)

Totes in the bag!

Sorry about the shit-title humour, I felt like I should show some wit ahah
Today I got mail from Socety6.com, which has some of the coolest designs for a range of hoodies, jumpers, t-shirts, iPhone cases and tote bags! And so I decided to do a post on my tote bag collection! I only like carrying around tote bags to uni, so you won't find any backpacks in my wardrobe ahah. These ones are my most used, I do own a couple more. Sorry about the lighting in some of the pictures, I relied on natural light coming into my room and it was a pretty cloudy day... You really can't rely on the weather in Melbourne.
Totoro design! Isn't it cute!!
I got this Totoro tote bag with the cool nature designed in the shape of Totoro from Society6, and WOW was I surprised by the size of this thing. Its the biggest tote bag I have, measuring at 13.5" x 15.5" so I think I'll use this one during the study period and maybe as a beach bag, although its way too nice for a beach bag!!

High Wheeler tote from etsy.com
This High-wheeler or Penny-Farthing tote bag was a must buy for me, SA cute! I got it from etsy.com and I mostly use this one when I go to work! Not much to say about this one, so let's move on!

A tote bag for my 19th birthday present
For my 19th birthday at the start of year, I received this really lovely gift from the girls! They actually painted this tote bag for me in this really amazing dark green (even though it looks black in the picture) and the design is so great! They also sewed this cute little watering-kettle button on the corner because "I like gardening so much" ahah. I majorly love love love this bag, it has a lot of value in it! I use this bag mostly for sleep-overs because its big enough to fit everything :)

Keep Calm and Expecto Patronum from etsy.com
Here's an action/model shot of me and my HPϟ oriented tote bag taken by Chloe! So fitting because we were on the way to the Harry Potter Exhibition in Sydney! In case you aren't a HP fanatic, Expecto-Patronum is the spell Harry uses when casting away Dementors that can only be conjured by really powerful wizards with really really happy thoughts, and the stag is Harry's Patronum :) This is really the ultimate tote bag any HP fan could ask for :P

I'm done with Second-year semester-two uni! So expect more posts about my Summer!

Outfit of the Day: Three Shades of Pink

Outfit for a smart casual dinner in the City with the docks in the background***
50 Shades of Grey; Three Shades of Pink, get it?! ahaha  I am so funny. Okay I'm really sorry about my lame jokes. So yesterday was my high school friend's 20th birthday dinner down in Docklands. We went to eat Italian at Renzo's Bar Cafè Italiano which had some fantastic food and lovely service, obviously overpriced for pasta and pizza but the company definitely made up for it, plus we got free desert (what a bonus!)!! My mother made me change about five times, 10 minutes before I was suppose to leave which I must say happens way to often, but this is what I ended up rushing out of the house out with.
Jacket: Alice Pastel Pink Jersey Blazer - BooHoo.com
Top: Baggy Reddish-Rose Top - Sass & Bide (I got this on sale for $6)
Pants: Shine High-Waisted Disco Pants - BooHoo.com

***Just a side note, I am a very short 1.53(ish)m Asian wearing size 6 AUS, and yes I am aware I am very short and this angle probably isn't the most flattering...***

Here's dinner, (FREE) dessert and a picture of me and Vicky who took the photos for me! Thanks Vicky! <3
Please share some of your OOTDs with me! :)

Shameless plug

My friends are so cute! We all like love doing DIY projects and some times DIY projects are just good enough to sell! So here's a shameless plug for my dear friend Kellen's etsy store, Corns And Calluses.
I say shameless because I'm actually SO in awe of how she can be bothered making them, selling them and still being so cute about them whilst also having two/three part time jobs and doing an engineering degree...
So here's a few pictures of my wallet made by hers truly:
Left: Back, Centre: Open, Right: Front

These are laminated paper wallets that are exceptionally durable and "splash proof", plus they can fit a lot of stuff in them! Really handy for on-the-go outings, quick trips to the milk bar, occasions that don't require bags and for those who don't like carrying big chunky purses. It'll fit comfortably in a jean or jacket pocket and they come in all different cute patterns!!

It also comes in a care package with its own personal box, instructions and a business card.

Things that can fit in my wallet
Okay, so obviously I am an excessive card carrier... but you really never know what you'll need until the time comes! Total of: 11 plastic cards, 2 polaroids, 3 sets of bandaids and $4.
If you have any questions, check out her blogspot post all about them!
She just restocked her store, so get it on it!! :)

What do you think of these cute DIY wallets?

You may say I'm a dreamer...

...but others have called me "outgoing". I think I just like dressing up!
Left: Pikachu outfit I made for Staff Party, Centre: Bellatrix Lestrange for Harry Potter Mid-Night Screening, Right: My Totoro Onsie

Left: Lady Gaga inspired dress up ft Beyonce on the left, Right: Hit Girl

I've had many occasions where I've had the opportunity to be really creative with costumes on a budget!
Pikachu outfit: I bought a $5 plain yellow dress from the Carribean market and stuck some sticky felt on the back for stripes, made a tail out of cardboard and put it on a belt I already had. The best part was making the Pikachu hat!! This clip shows you exactly how to make it and she is super cute!
Bellatrix Lestrange: Midnight screening of Harry Potter Part 2?! OF COURSE I had to dress up! Easily enough Bellatrix' gothic look involved a long black formal dress I wore to the Scotch formal and a corset over the top, I also put on a crop shawl thing and people actually asked for my picture during the night haha. Using mostly blacks, greys and dark red for the lips, the craziest fun was frizzing/curling my hair! This clip by audfaced was definitely an inspiration and her other clips are AMAZING!
Totoro: Incase you don't recognise this furry happy face, it is from Studio Ghibli's My Neighbour Totoro! This film is so great, if you haven't already seen it it is a must watch! Okay, so I didn't DIY this onsie, but actually bought it off ebay... My sewing skills aren't that amazing and I haven't figured out how to use my sewing machine yet....(I can use one, just not my one...LOL). Still, if you haven't invested in an adult onsie yet, I really think you should! They're so comfy!
Lady Gaga ϟ: Half way though my outfit I think I couldn't be bothered committing to the whole Lady Gaga theme, thus my hair is pretty normal. I've had this velvet DIY L.B.D. from ages ago, but never had an occasion to wear it out! So I added a Mickey Mouse belt, a tulle under the skirt and went all out with bottom lashes for my make up!
Hit Girl: This was for Athletics sports back in 2010, I'd just seen the movie Kick Ass and Chloe Moretz was the coolest young actor on the block! With a few added touches, I kept the bases of her outfit; the purple wig, mask, cape, belt with HG (...could now also stand for Hunger Games...) but added the overly-large bow I stole from a friend on the day and the tulle skirt.

Halloweens is coming up, not to mention Christmas and New Years! More dress up's on the way! Keep Tuned!!

What's your favourite costume you've worn?? :D

First Post! The post that hurts the most!

My first post! AH MA GAAAAAAARRD!
So I decided to start a blog because I needed to keep my hands busy and distract myself from uni stress... but really I enjoy posting irrelevant information on the internet in hopes that maybe one day at least one person in the world will read it. I'm not so fussed though.
Here's a picture of my neighbours chicken roaming in my garden!
I named it Benny

Welcome to my blog, stick around if you please - I promise it'll get more interesting (maybe)!
